A nostalgic New Jersey steakhouse is closing this summer for renovations.
The Pub, a South Jersey restaurant staple in Pennsauken, is shutting its doors from July 1 to Sept. 20 for renovations and repairs.
The 73-year-old steakhouse announced the plan in a recent Facebook post.
The post garnered hundreds of reactions, comments and shares as many patrons are hoping The Pub will retain its traditional steakhouse aura. Details about the decades-old eatery’s renovations have not been announced.
Camden County’s longstanding steakhouse is best known for its prime cuts of meat, cooked on an open charcoal hearth, and extensive salad bar.
Some of The Pub’s best menu items are its prime rib, baby back ribs, filet mignon steak-abob, fried stuffed shrimp, flounder and grilled marinated chicken.
The restaurant’s large interior includes low-lighting, stained-glass windows, a large bar and seating for 500 guests.
The Pub originally opened at 7600 Kaighn Ave. back in 1951 as one of three restaurants in the mini-chain. The other two Pubs were located in Philadelphia and closed in the mid ‘80s.
A fire in 1960 forced a rebuild in Pennsauken as the original building burned down.
