Kevin Shea is a news reporter who covers a variety of criminal justice issues for NJ Advance Media on NJ.com. He’s covered countless crimes and disasters, including the anthrax attacks of 2001 and 2002 and dug through 9/11 debris on Staten Island, N.Y. to get a story on the other 'ground zero.' He's been featured on numerous true crime TV shows about stories he’s reported. Shea led the coverage of New Jersey residents charged in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol and in 2024 co-reported and narrated the podcast, "In the Shadow of Princeton," about an unsolved, 1989 murder in the Ivy League town. Kevin has worked in daily news since 1993, starting with a stint in the photography department of the Baltimore Sun and a five-year run as a photographer/reporter at the Asbury Park Press in Neptune, N.J., followed by 10 years as the lead crime reporter at the Times of Trenton newspaper. Shea grew up in a Maryland suburb of Washington, D.C., the son of a news reporter, and has a photojournalism degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
