‘Love Island’ fans always look forward to Casa Amor — but not this year

Love Island USA - Season 7

“Love Island” fans normally look forward to Casa Amor all season, but fans are skeptical about the twist this year.

The Casa Amor twist is named for the villa of the same name. About midway through each season of “Love Island,” either the boys or the girls are sent to Casa Amor without their partners to explore connections with new bombshells. Meanwhile, a new crop of contestants enters the main villa to get to know the people left behind.

Casa Amor will kick off during the Monday, June 23, episode of “Love Island USA.” The twist is meant to test connections and tempt islanders to turn their heads, so it’s the most satisfying when there are strong couples in the villa. Heading into Casa Amor on season 7 of “Love Island USA,” there are hardly any solid pairs.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for season 7 of “Love Island USA.”

Nic Vansteenberghe and Cierra Ortega are currently the strongest couple, but that’s not saying very much. Chelley Bissainthe and Ace Greene are also finally coupled up after flirting all season, but it’s unclear whether their connection will go the distance. Olandria Carthen and Taylor Williams’ relationship has barely progressed, and Austin Shepard clearly isn’t interested in pursuing Amaya Espinal.

Many “Love Island USA” fans have expressed frustration with the lack of strong couples going into Casa Amor, especially after Jeremiah Brown and Hannah Fields were dumped from the villa despite having connections with Andreina Santos and Jose “Pepe” Garcia, respectively.

“So we’re going into casa amor with no strong couples nothing ???? Like ok cool what’s the point just put them all together at this point,” one viewer wrote via X.

“WDYM [what do you mean] THEY GO TO CASA TMR [tomorrow] NONE OF THESE COUPLES ARE EVEN STABLEEEE,” another fan chimed in.

Other viewers pointed out that there are currently too many single people in the villa for Casa Amor to serve its intended purpose. (Andreina Santos, Huda Mustafa, Iris Kendell, Thomas “TJ” Palma, and Pepe are all currently single).

“This season is so stupid bc wdym there are 5 single people going to casa and 2 of them have been here 2 days #LoveIslandUSA,” one fan wrote via X, calling out the two newest bombshells, Andreina and TJ.

While it’s true that Casa Amor will definitely look a bit different this year, it could still shake up the season in an entertaining way. Viewers currently have almost no relationships to root for, and the new bombshells will hopefully change that.

We might not be getting the drama of well-established couples torn apart by hot new singles, but we won’t have to keep settling for the current lukewarm connections either.

Casa Amor begins on Monday, June 23. New episodes of “Love Island USA” premiere on Peacock at 9 p.m. ET every day except Wednesday.
