NEW YORK — This was Thursday in the Bronx, just as the mid-day crowd was settling into their seats. Starting pitcher Carlos Rodon had yet to throw the first pitch to Angels leadoff hitter Zach Neto, but the synapses in center fielder Trent Grisham’s brain were already firing.
The Yankees’ scouting report indicated Neto, who bats right-handed, was a dead-pull hitter. The outfield defense was accordingly shifted to the left.
