CASA of Passaic and Union Counties shares a story of Mia, a nine-year-old who once lived in a home filled with instability and fear, where her parents’ addiction left her hungry and alone. Now in foster care, Mia has found a voice through her Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer – someone who “consistently shows up, listens and stands up for her needs.”
According to CASA, “Mia represents just one of more than 500 children in Passaic and Union counties who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. These vulnerable children, separated from everything familiar, desperately need dedicated advocates to protect their interests while navigating the foster care system.”
