“The Traitors” season 3 star Danielle Reyes confirmed some of her costars’ claims that she swore on her grandchildren while lying on the show.
During the season 3 reunion, which hit Peacock on Thursday, March 6, Reyes explained that she first said, “I swear on my grandkids” after her castmate Dolores Catania swore on her own family.
“I did that because I know family’s important to you. I knew you’re Italian, family’s everything,” Reyes told Catania.
The “traitor” added that Catania was “scary” to her, and she wanted a way to keep her off her back.
“When she talks to you, she’s looking at the back of your skull,” Reyes said of the “Real Housewives of New Jersey” star.
Reyes admitted that she swore on her grandkids several more times over the course of the competition. When reunion host Andy Cohen asked how she justified that, the “Big Brother” alum explained that she was trying to win for her loved ones.
“That money wasn’t life-changing, but it would’ve made a big impact where I come from,” she said.

Reyes’ comments came after several of her costars spoke out about her habit of swearing on family members. During a February appearance on Kaitlyn Bristowe’s “Off the Vine” podcast, Chrishell Stause said that it made it difficult to convince people that Reyes might be a “traitor.”
“I remember specifically Dolores being like, ‘Absolutely not, nobody would do that,’” Stause said.
Reyes’ fellow “traitor” Carolyn Wiger said during a February interview with the New York Post that she was “triggered” by Reyes invoking family members when lying.
“Everyone is different with how they play and what they feel is morally okay and whatever. … I just didn’t think that people were going to go to those lengths,” Wiger said. “And I’m not going to.”

Fans of “The Traitors,” however, seem to have no problem with Reyes’ tactics.
“It’s a game. You play to win. All the gamers know that,” one viewer commented on a TikTok video discussing the situation.
“Swearing on anyone literally means nothing lol. It’s not a blood oath,” another chimed in.
Other TikTok users pointed out that being too critical of lying ruins the point of shows like “The Traitor.”
“Let villains be villains. This is why TV isn’t good anymore. Let her play the game,” one person wrote.

Of all the OG “traitors,” Reyes made it the farthest in the game, outlasting Bob the Drag Queen, Rob “Boston Rob” Mariano, and Wiger.
Reyes got off to a rocky start in the game, getting caught throwing Wiger’s name around and forgetting to pretend she needed safety during missions, but she redeemed herself as the season went on. She survived eight roundtables, making her one of the most successful “traitors” in the show’s history.
Four “faithfuls” — Catania, Gabby Windey, Dylan Efron, and Lord Ivar Mountbatten — emerged victorious at the end of the season 3 finale. After banishing Reyes and newly-recruited “traitor” Britney Haynes, the foursome voted to end the game and share the $204,300 prize pot.
“The Traitors” is available to stream on Peacock.
