Severe weather, including thunderstorms, high wind gusts, hail, flash flooding and possible tornadoes across a large swath of the country have caused travel disruptions on Wednesday at many U.S. airports.

The main threat for severe weather will ramp up Wednesday evening from central Michigan to north-central Texas, according to AccuWeather.

But flight cancellations and delays are widespread nationwide, according to flightaware.com.

As of 4 p.m., there were 439 total cancellations and 5,021 total delays affecting travel at airports within the United States.
