Another year, another successful day on the golf course for Greg Schiano.

The Rutgers football coach’s annual Charity Golf Classic, which was held on Monday at Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club in Bedminster, raised $100,000 for the multiple charities they support, the program announced.

All proceeds from the event benefit the program’s Chop4Change initiative, Athletes in Action and the Robert E. “Bob” Mulcahy Football Scholarship Fund, which gives back in honor of the former Rutgers athletic director who first hired Schiano to be the school’s head coach at the start of the century.

Roughly 350 golfers participated the event, where they played a round of golf and attended a dinner reception.

Schiano launched the charity outing in 2008 with Pat Morris, a longtime football booster. The event continued under coaches Kyle Flood and Chris Ash, and after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, has been held for each of the past four years.

“Today is really, really cool,” Schiano said prior to the event. “It’s several great charities, and the support is off the charts. Pat Morris does an unbelievable job organizing this. He’s done it since its inception, and he’s just a special guy, an unselfish guy who gives a lot of himself every year to make this a great event, so I couldn’t thank him enough. I think the charities that are supported, same thing. It’s really special what Pat does, and to be able to have all these Rutgers people here is really cool.
