The Rolling Stones don’t look like they plan to stop anytime soon, but ex-Sex Pistols and Public Image Ltd lead singer John Lydon thinks they should call it quits.

Lydon, 69, made his feelings known during an appearance on “Good Morning Britain.” He was there to speak about his wife, Nora, and manager John “Rambo” Stevens, who both died in 2023. The vocalist then floated the possibility of retiring from live performances. Lydon immediately walked it back with a little overture to the Stones’s ongoing career spanning six decades.

“As I indicated before, if I just sat back and retired, that’s not me. I’m not that kind of person,” Lydon quips. “By all means, The Rolling Stones should retire, I’m not short of a song idea or two, so there’s a difference.”

Lydon also spoke about his former Sex Pistols band members, Steve Jones, Paul Cook, and Glen Matlock, playing a pair of tour dates with Frank Carter as the lead singer in August. Needless to say, Lydon is not a fan.

“They’ve turned the whole thing into rubbish childishness,” he said. “That’s unacceptable. Sorry, I’m not going to give a helping hand to this any longer… as far as I am concerned, I am the Pistols, and they’re not,” Lydon concluded.
