Rachel Zegler is going from Disney princess to Marisa Tomei‘s daughter with her newest role.
Variety reports that the New Jersey actor has been cast in the movie “She Gets it From Me.”
The dramedy, based on a true story and written by Jay Reiss (Broadway’s “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” “The Oranges”), sees Zegler’s character Nicky celebrating her engagement when she starts on the road to searching for and reconnecting with her birth mother, Charlotte.
Charlotte, played by Oscar winner Tomei, is a drug-using former punk rocker.

Zegler, 23, who grew up in Clifton, just starred as Snow White in Disney’s live-action reimagining of its first animated movie, which was released in March.
Julia von Heinz (“Treasure,” “KaDeWe - Our Time Is Now”) will direct Zegler and Tomei, 60, who won an Academy Award in 1993 for “My Cousin Vinny” and was nominated for “The Wrestler” (2008) and “In the Bedroom” (2001).
The musically gifted Zegler, who made her Broadway debut last year in “Romeo + Juliet‚” first showed off her voice in another take on Shakespeare’s star-crossed lovers: Steven Spielberg’s “West Side Story" (2021).
