A New Jersey native has been honored with mammoth title: serving the best pizza in the world.
50 Top Pizza, an Italian website that annually ranks global pizza, recently released their list of the top 50 pizzerias in the world for 2024. While no pizzerias from the Garden State made the list, Anthony Mangieri’s Una Pizza Napoletana in New York City was recognized as the best.
Mangieri, a Beachwood native, opened the now-closed Sant Arsenio in Red Bank in 1993 and opened the first Una Pizza Napoletana in Point Pleasant in 1996 before relocating to the East Village of Manhattan in 2004.

After relocating to San Francisco in 2010, the shop returned to the Lower East Side in 2018. A location also opened in Atlantic Highlands in 2020, but closed in 2021.
Earlier this summer, 50 Top Pizza released their top 50 top pizzerias in the United States for 2024 list. Along with Una Pizza Napoletana, two of the state’s leading pizza shops also made the list.
