AtlantiCare has marked the completion of a major $75 million expansion project at its Mainland Campus in Galloway Township.

The project, which is funding in party by a $20 million grant from the state, includes 35,000 square feet of new construction atop the existing two floors of the Meadows Pavilion.

The project also created 50 private patient rooms designed for safety, comfort and the overall care experience.

The new rooms on the third and fourth floors feature smart technology that allows patients to control entertainment, temperature and dining options through voice commands or touchscreens.

Digital whiteboards in each room sync with the patient’s medical record. Other features include dialysis access at the bedside and ceiling lifts in some rooms to help with patient mobility.

A ceremony to mark the event was held last month at the new facility, according to a statement from AtlantiCare.

“We approached this project with a clear purpose: to create a space that meets the needs of today’s patients while anticipating the care demands of tomorrow,” Michael Charlton, president and CEO of AtlantiCare, said at the ceremony.

The layout and design choices were made in collaboration with nurses, doctors, support staff and facilities experts.

Key features include satellite nursing stations with natural light, decentralized medication and supply areas, and a hospitality-inspired aesthetic.

The third floor began accepting patients in June.

AtlantiCare will then start renovating rooms on the first floor to match the style and features of the new units, followed by similar upgrades to the second floor.

The entire expansion and renovation is expected to be finished by the end of 2026.
