N.J. gang member sentenced to life for murder, drug crimes, feds say

A member of a Jersey City street gang was sentenced Tuesday to life in prison for multiple crimes he committed for the group including murder and drug offenses, federal prosecutors said.

Myron Williams, 31, of Newark, was convicted last year of racketeering conspiracy, murder in aid of racketeering, possession with intent to distribute controlled substances, and discharging a firearm during a crime of violence, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office District of New Jersey.

Another member of the gang, Jawaad Davis, 23, of Jersey City, was also sentenced Tuesday to 14 years and two months in prison for his role in the gang which included orchestrating a robbery that resulted in murder, the office said.

Williams and Davis are members and associates of the neighborhood street gang associated with the Marion Gardens Housing Complex, authorities said.

Since 2013, they and their fellow gang members have committed numerous acts of violence, including three separate murders, the office said.

On March 29, 2021, Khalil Kelley, 26, of Jersey City and other gang members lured a rival gang member outside by sending him Instagram messages pretending to be the victim’s fellow gang member, investigators said.

When the victim opened the door to his home, Kelley and another gang member brandished firearms, and the victim was shot multiple times in the chest, killing him, officials said.

Williams and Roger Pickett, 24, of Jersey City, then picked up Kelley and other gang members after they abandoned their vehicle in Newark, federal prosecutors said.

In a similar incident on Nov. 20, 2021, Williams, Pickett, and Naim Richardson, 32, of Jersey City, lured rival gang member Rashaun Bell, 24, outside by sending him Instagram messages pretending to be the victim’s fellow gang member, the office said. Williams and another gang member not identified in the statement shot the victim when he opened the door to his home.

The third murder happened on Nov. 1, 2022, when Davis facilitated the murder of 23-year-old Jovahn Horne by coordinating a drug deal with him and his associate, authorities said.

When Horne and his associate arrived at the Marion Gardens Housing Complex to complete the narcotics transaction, they were robbed of their drugs supply, investigators said.

During the robbery, Pickett and Quaseame Wilson, 28, of Jersey City held the pair at gunpoint, officials said. After a struggle ensued, Pickett shot and killed Horne while his associate fled. Pickett then fled the Marion Gardens Housing Complex with Wilson.

For months, detectives observed and documented hundreds of narcotics transactions in and around the Marion Gardens Housing Complex, federal prosecutors said. They also learned that Herbert Thomas, 49, of Jersey City, was a primary supplier of narcotics to the gang.

When 11 members of the gang were arrested on March 17, 2023, detectives seized contraband at several different locations, including heroin, fentanyl, crack cocaine, narcotics packaging materials, ammunition, bulletproof vests, and a loaded handgun, the office said.

Kelley was previously sentenced on June 5, 2025, to life imprisonment for his role in the Marion Gardens street gang, authorities said. He was convicted last year of single counts of racketeering conspiracy and Hobbs Act robbery, as well as murder in aid of racketeering, discharging a firearm during a crime of violence and causing death through the use of a firearm.

Pickett was convicted last year of the same crimes, the office said.

The remaining gang members and associates: Thomas, Bell, Richardson, Wilson, Andre Alomar, 24, of Newark, Anthony Rogers, 25, of Jersey City, Javon Williams, 28, of Jersey City and Keith Anderson, 23, of Jersey City, have all previously pleaded guilty to multiple crimes and were awaiting sentencing, according to the statement.
