One of the most popular bagels shops in New York is coming to New Jersey. We don’t know when yet, but we do know where.
Apollo Bagels, the Manhattan-based shop known for crispy open-faced sandwiches on sourdough bagels, is coming to Hoboken. A company spokesperson confirmed to NJ Advance Media on Thursday that the first Apollo Bagels location in the Garden State will be at 324 Washington St. in the Mile Square City.
No opening date has been announced yet.
The bagel shop started as an extension of Leo, a popular Williamsburg sourdough pizzeria, and eventually moved on to pop-ups across the city and beyond — even serving bagels across the Atlantic in Paris. Apollo Bagels eventually opened brick-and-mortar locations in both the East and West Village.

Apollo Bagels now has outposts in Williamsburg and the Financial District. NJ Advance Media confirmed last fall the company was making the jump across the Hudson River to Hoboken, though a specific location was not announced at that point.
Some of the most popular bagel shops in New Jersey have pivoted to unconventional, over-the-top bagels and cream cheeses flavored with cookies, cereals and chips. In sharp contrast, Apollo Bagels offers a simple, scaled-down menu — plain, sesame and everything bagels and plain cream cheese. Their open-faced bagel sandwiches with lox, white fish salad and other toppings. There are routinely hour-long lines at the shop, which The New York Times deemed to serve one of the best bagels in New York.
