An out-of-state motorist was killed and two others were injured in a head-on crash in Cape May County on Sunday, according to police.
Two cars collided on Route 47 in Middle Township around 9 a.m., killing Robert Burch, of Baltimore, Maryland, township police said Monday. Burch was pronounced dead at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City.
A passenger, a 70-year-old woman, was taken to the same hospital after being removed from the Burch’s Hyundai sedan by rescuers, police said. A second motorist, a 66-year-old woman, was taken to Cooper University Hospital, police said.
Authorities did not provide an update on both women’s conditions on Monday.
Burch’s sedan was northbound on the highway when it crossed the centerline, striking the 66-year-old woman’s Buick SUV, police said. Investigators closed Route 47 near the crash for about four hours.
