A Pennsylvania man was found guilty Thursday of committing lewd acts on a train between Philadelphia and New Jersey in 2021, officials with the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office said.

Charles May, 30, of Chester, Pennsylvania was found guilty of two counts each of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child and fourth-degree criminal sexual contact. He was also found guilty of third-degree witness tampering.

May was arrested on Aug. 29, 2021, for masturbating on a PATCO train in front of two teenage girls who were on their way home from a concert in Camden, officials said.

The PATCO is a high-speed train that runs between center city Philadelphia and Lindenwold.

Delaware River Port Authority officers were notified about May’s behavior and arrested him on a train platform, officials said.

As May’s case approached a trial date in July 2024, the two girls started receiving strange, intimidating and sexual Instagram messages from a burner account, officials said.

One message told one of the girls to “toss the case by mid-July,” officials said.

Investigators determined that the burner account was created using two email addresses belonging to May, officials said.

May’s sentencing is scheduled for July 11.

His attorney did not immediately return a request for comment.
