Ford recalls 1M vehicles due to this glitch: Is your vehicle affected?

If you drive a Ford, you might want to be extra careful when backing out.

Ford is recalling nearly 1.1 million vehicles due to a glitch with the rearview camera system in some models when the car is placed in reverse, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

About 1.1 million Ford and Lincoln vehicles are subject to this recall, according to the NHTSA.

The Ford models are being recalled due to a software glitch that could cause the rearview camera image to glitch, according to the notice from the NHTSA.

“A software error may cause the rearview camera image to delay, freeze, or not display when the vehicle is in reverse,” the NHTSA said.

This glitch can increase the risk of a crash because of low visibility.

Owners can bring their affected Ford or Lincoln vehicles to their local dealership for a software update, which can also be done over the air.

Vehicle owners can expect notification letters from Ford by June 16 about the rearview camera problem.

Owners will get a second letter once the fix is available between July and September.
