If you drive an Audi, you might want to double-check your engine to see if there are any screws loose.
Volkswagen, Audi’s parent company, is recalling nearly 90,000 Audi vehicles due to some loose screws in the engine that could cause a fire risk, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Here’s what you need to know about the recall.
What Audi vehicles are part of the recall?
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Affected product | Audi vehicles |
| Model numbers | Audi Q5 and Q5 Sportback vehicles (2022–2024) |
| Reason for recall | Loose engine screws |
| Remedy | Free dealer repair |
About 90,000 2022-2024 Audi Q5 Quattro and Q5 Sportback Quattro vehicles are subject to the recall, according to the NHTSA.
Why are the Audi vehicles being recalled?
The Audi vehicles are being recalled due to cylinder head cover screws that might have been improperly tightened, according to the NHTSA.
This allows oil to leak from the engine. “If the engine oil were to come into contact with certain hot parts of the engine, a fire could occur,” the notices state.
What should you do if you have one of the recalled Audi vehicles?
Owners can bring their affected Audi vehicles to their dealers to get the screws inspected and, if needed, replaced free of charge.
Those affected by the recall can expect a letter in the mail over the next few months.
There is also the option to contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834, using the reference number 15ZK.
