Thousands of homes and businesses lost power in parts of New Jersey Thursday night due to sever thunderstorms and high winds.
As of 11:25 p.m., more than 52,000 people were waiting for their power to be restored, according to New Jersey’s three major utility companies.
JCP&L reported the most outages at 44,000 as of Thursday night.
PSE&G had about 7,000 outages.
Atlantic City Electric had roughly 1,200 outages.
The weather service said earlier in the day that some storm cells that are moving through the region could bring gusts as high as 60 mph along with large hail, drenching rain and frequent lightning.
