Hot 97’s Summer Jam will return to New Jersey this summer after a two-year hiatus. It will be held for the first time at Newark’s Prudential Center, on June 20. The annual show will be part of New Jersey’s multi-city North to Shore Festival concert series.
“Summer Jam is the pinnacle of Hip Hop culture, and we’re honored to bring this electrifying experience to fans once again. This year’s lineup is a testament to the genre’s evolution, featuring both chart-topping superstars and rising talent who are shaping the future of Hip Hop,” says Shelby Joyner, Founder of SJ Presents and President of The Black Promoters Collective.
The lineup includes A Boogie, Gunna, GloRilla, Muni Long, Asake, Ayra Starr, Ja Rule and Friends with a tribute to Irv Gotti. There will also be performances from Kash Doll, Jim Jones & friends, and Cash Cobain.
The first Hot 97 Summer Jam took place at what was known as the Brendon Byrne Arena in East Rutherford on June 21, 1994. (It also went by the Meadowlands Arena, Continental Airlines Arena, and Izod Center.) The festival moved to Giants Stadium in 2003 and later MetLife Stadium, where the festivities would continue until 2023. Previous artists who performed at the festival included Nas, A Tribe Called Quest, Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lamar, Cardi B, and more.
Tickets go on pre-sale April 2 and the general public on-sale begins April 4.
