A New Jersey politician recently opened up about a blind date he went on with a famous pop star.
U.S. Sen. Cory Booker revealed the went on “sort of a blind date” with Mariah Carey, in a recent sit-down with Stepping Into the Shade Room on Wednesday.
“This is gonna make some news, I guess,” Booker said. “But years ago, I was set up on sort of a blind date with Mariah Carey.”
The Democrat did not specify exactly when the date occurred.
The Harrington Park native said the date was memorable, although there were no signs of a “love match,” he admitted.
“It was one of those times where you just know you’re in the presence of somebody that has a grandeur about them,” Booker said. “And I’m not talking about her talent. But she just has this light. We laughed and had a good time. It was clearly not a love match.”
The 56-year-old said the “Fantasy” singer’s brother and cousin were there too and would be able to corroborate the story if needed.
This isn’t the senator’s first romantic run-in with a celebrity. Booker dated actress Rosario Dawson from 2020 to 2022.
Carey, 56, has yet to comment publicly on Booker’s narrative. The five-time Grammy winner is gearing up to drop a video for her new single “Type Dangerous” ahead of her 16th studio album release.
