Cops nab N.J. man sought in fatal shooting. Second shooter sought.

Authorities have arrested a man sought in the June 14 shooting death of a Cumberland County resident.

Trasuf J. Bennett, 19, of Bridgeton, is accused of driving up in a vehicle and shooting Roshaud Rhett, 20, on the 300 block of Maurice Street in Millville, according to the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office.

Rhett, a Millville resident, was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

Prosecutors announced charges in the case Thursday and said Bennett was being sought, along with a man wanted on gun charges and a 16-year-old who was considered a runaway.

Bennett and the juvenile were located around 11:30 p.m. Thursday in Trenton, the prosecutor’s office said.

Bennett is charged with first-degree murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon and second-degree possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, the office said.

Investigators believe the juvenile was in the vehicle with Bennett during the shooting. Officials have not said if the juvenile faces charges.

A man accused of returning gunfire at Bennett during the incident remains at large, officials said.

James L. Henry, 19, of Millville, is charged with second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He should be considered armed and dangerous, the prosecutor’s office said.

Anyone with information on Henry’s whereabouts is asked to contact prosecutor’s office Detective Malia Caminos at 856-506-7114 or Millville Police Detective Louis Torres at 609-675-5462.
