David Hekili Kenui Bell, an actor who recently appeared in the live-action remake of “Lilo & Stitch,” has died at the age of 46.
Bell’s sister Jalene Kanani Bell, announced the actor’s death in a Facebook post Sunday.
“It is with a heavy heart I share that my sweet, generous, talented, funny, brilliant and handsome little brother David H. K. Bell will spend today in the company of our Heavenly Father,” the post read. “While I didn’t grow up with a Father, David gave me all the unconditional love I could possibly ask for and I believe that all his family and friends received the same from him.”
Bell died Thursday in Hawaii, Hawaiian police told PEOPLE.
Police said they have launched a coroner’s investigation and an autopsy is being conducted although no foul play is suspected, according to PEOPLE.
Bell was billed as “Big Hawaiian Dude,” and dropped his shaved ice when he saw a portal opening on the island in Disney’s live-action remake of the 2002 animated hit film “Lilo & Stitch.” The box office hit premiered May 23 and has grossed over $800 million worldwide.
“He planned ahead and purchased the best seats in the house for us all to go together to opening night in Kapolei just two short weeks ago,” his sister wrote.
Bell also made appearances in episodes of “Hawaii Five-0″ and “Magnum P.I.” on television.
