The Transportation Security Administration, or TSA for short, has a large list of items that you cannot pack in your luggage or carry with you on a plane.
These banned items range from flammables to sharp objects, as well as firearms.
However, there are some seemingly harmless items the TSA bans from checked luggage.
Here are all the items you can’t pack in checked luggage before you check your bag on your next flight.
Lithium batteries
Lithium ion and lithium metal batteries cannot be placed in checked luggage, according to the TSA.
However, you can carry up to two spare lithium batteries in your carry-on luggage.
Cordless hair straighteners
Cordless hair straighteners are another item that TSA bans from checked luggage.
However, according to the TSA, you can include them in your carry-on luggage so long as a safety cover is placed over the area that heats up.
Medical devices
Medical devices are prohibited from being packed in checked luggage, but TSA regulations allow medical devices to be packed in carry-on luggage.
Power banks
Power banks containing lithium ion batteries are not allowed in checked luggage.
However, according to the TSA, they are allowed to be packed in carry-on bags.
Portable chargers
Like power banks, portable chargers are also not allowed in checked luggage.
However, according to the TSA, they are allowed to be packed in carry-on bags.
Matches
All matches are prohibited from being placed into checked luggage, according to the TSA.
However, the TSA allows one pack of safety matches to be packed as a carry-on item.
